    Poser Pro 2012 - is it just me - or...?

    Before I rush off and send a bug report into SM is anyone still experiencing problems with the library palette not retaining it's position on the second screen when closing and re-opening Poser Pro 2012?

    This is an issue I have had since release and I am certain I put in a bug report early on but despite the service pack release, I find the issue remains.

    By the way it is not an issue in Poser 9.........

    By Library Palette, do you mean the embedded flash one or AIR?

    I have no issues with AIR library on a second monitor.

    Also, are your screens set up in a horizontal or vertical orientation? I think there are some general issues with screens set up vertically (docked scripts can slip under the UI).

    The AIR library and I have my screens setup in horizontal orientation - and as I mentioned before it only seems to be an issue in my copy of Poser Pro.

    It's just one of those fiddly annoying things

    The AIR version records its coordinates in a file. I have installed many versions and so the path to this file has changed so you may have to hunt for it a bit.

    It could be simple like this:

    C:\Users\Ted\AppData\Roaming\LSMGUIAIR\Local Store\preferences.xml

    or ugly like this:

    C:\Users\Ted\AppData\Roaming\LSMGUIAIR.75FD082802C FD201679ACAC756A932447464AEBF.1\Local Store\preferences.xml

    Can you find yours? What are the coordinates that it stored? Mine says:

    <windowState y="29" x="861" height="826" width="705"/>

    What are your screen dimension? Is your primary screen (the one where the left most coordinate is 0) on the right or the left?

    I think there is a problem with negative X coordinates, where your second monitor with higher X is on the left or something like that. Just guessing.

    <windowState width="916" height="738" x="-1894" y="72"/>
    <saveDate>Fri May 11 10:45:54 GMT+1000 2012</saveDate>
    Resolution both monitors 1920 x 1080

    Monitor 1 is on the left but I have primary monitor set to monitor 2

    One would think that bot Poser 9 and Poser Pro would work the same with AIR - but this does not seem to be the case

    There you go - that negative x coordinate is messing things up.

    When you put your primary monitor on the right, Windows assigns negative coordinates to your second monitor. I did not know this at the time I wrote it. And - in some strange cases - I *was* getting negative numbers when I should not and (I seem to recall) I was told to add a test for those and ignore them. Or maybe I just screwed up. In any case, the code says:

    var x:Number = Number(prefsXML.windowState.@x);
    if (isNaN(x) || x < 0)
    return;
    stage.nativeWindow.x = prefsXML.windowState.@x;
    stage.nativeWindow.y = prefsXML.windowState.@y;

    So the AIR UI will refuse to go to your second monitor on startup.

    You could write to SM and tell them about this. They're maintaining it now. It's a simple thing to fix.

    Note you mention Poser 9 should work the same with AIR - Poser 9 doesn't have AIR. It only has the Flash version.

    You could switch PP2012 to the Flash version.

    Thanks - that solved the issue - however I will send off a bug report to SM about the AIR version.

    var x:Number = Number(prefsXML.windowState.@x);
    if (isNaN(x) || x < 0)
    return;
    stage.nativeWindow.x = prefsXML.windowState.@x;
    stage.nativeWindow.y = prefsXML.windowState.@y;

    I've had the same problem all along. I have the Library on the left monitor, because it's lower resolution, so I drag it over there every time I start PP2012. Coordinates are:

    windowState width="916" height="738" x="-1436" y="-15"

    I could buy better software, but then I'd have to be an artist and what's the point of that?
