Hi, I have a problem with Poser 9 when using separate processes to render.

Ok, I am no pro when it comes to poser (more of a tinker) but I have been a user since P7.

My problem is this, when I render a figure and some objects using separate processes I get white textures. Rendering with separate processes ticked off works fine but much slower.

I have tried several figures and even a new basic figure with basic textures and it still renders white. I have tried lowering the number of threads, caching size ect. Running out of ideas so would appreciate some help as its driving me mad now:P

I'm expecting it to be a simple setting that iv missed.

PC spec: i7 3930k (6 cores) LGA2011
16GB ram quad channel 2400MHz
EVGA 560Ti graphics card
1 TB sata HD for runtime and caching
SSD for poser and OS
Win 7 64bit

Out of nowhere...Sassafras!

I will admit I did not expect this character. Well, RedSpark did hint about something on the horizon, but I imagined it might have been at most, an add-on for Peaches and Pickles. Some time ago, I might have questioned the debut of a totally new figure with its own distinct proportions. But with the release of Poser Pro 2014 and its "Fitting Room", that is no longer a detriment.

Okay, given that Beth Capsces has been intimately involved with Sassa's creation (rigging Albee's sculpt and supplying an initial set of poses), I gotta' ask, Beth, will you create and release a set of face and body morphs as you have done for so many figures? I can imagine a masculine "Sasser" or a curvier, feminine "Saucy", "Sourpuss" older morphs and youthful kittens, and, of course, greedy "fat" cats.

I'm sure this figure will sell well. Shoot, "Xaa" nabbed a copy even before I did and he's the type to carefully consider his purchases. When he approves, you know you've done well!

Sincerely,

Bill

It seems that the subdivision surfaces process is quite stringent regarding requirements for the mesh. I love BVH's Angela and Joshua and I thought they would be prime candidates for use with the new Poser, since they are low-poly and have lots of morphs. However, I get an error message when try this with Angela and Joshua. The geometry is not compatible, and Poser suggests that one should check the model for duplicate polygons, non-manifold edges or redundant vertices. I have reported this to the creator and I really hope it will be fixed, but perhaps it is a good idea to list any other figures that have problems with subsurf.

Just interested to know if anyone is tackling this yet, and if so, how it's going?

I'd like to read about other people's experiences while I await the postman with my own copy of PP2014.

Once that comes, I guess I'll start to post something about my own trial and error with this ;)

I think Rex and Roxie are going to be just right for a project I have planned, to make me knuckle down and get busy learning ZBrush properly... kind of a 50th anniversary project...

Hello,
I've have a question about installing Miki4 and Sydney2 of SmithMicro. If I try to install, it's searching the Poser Directory (my Content is all in the main Folder). If I change the path from e.g. PP2012 to PP2014 it's not working. The message is: Poser is not in the selceted path, but it is. :O
Do somebody know what I can do?

I've already mentioned this in another thread, but I feel it's important to get discussion going on just this: new things that Poser can implement. Specifically, we have seen a move towards a model-independant stance, where you can use the model you want with the clothes you want. This is a very important step, as this is one chain that is keeping a lot of people from moving to legacy figures (Gen 4) to newer ones. But it's not the only chain. Let's look at a couple more:

Textures

Like the clothes, I have a LOT of textures for Gen4 figures, and I still can't justify giving all of those up. There are a lot of characters that I really like in my library, and just dropping them isn't something I can do in good conscience. I spent too much on them. If we had a way to convert textures easily from one figure to another, that would be one more chain gone. Perhaps even a library of 'quick' translates be built for a dozen or so figures, so people can get into it quickly.

Morphs

This is the next biggest chain. While some of the morphs are just 'fixes' to make V4 bend the way we would like, there are still a LOT of morphs for other things. For goodness sakes, there are entire series of morphs to make egyptian cat/bird/dog headed style people. There's the millions of elves and star trek races. There are more morphs out there, than there are people to use them. This one would be a little more difficult than textures, but imagine what we could do if we could take the morphs from one character and move them to another. Obviously, some morphs are useless (like the slight tweaks to face where someone basically sculpts the look they want into a morph) but others would still be the kind of thing we could all use. Some may require some severe post tweaking (getting a cat head to translate from V4 to say My Michelle would probably make poor Michelle look pretty strange at first) but if there could be a quick way to 'translate' those (the 'tweak' settings copied without the original morph, to save from copyright violation) then we could even have people in the community donating time to do that for everyone.

What else would everyone like to see to remove dependancy on individual figures and make Poser THE product to use?

Hey,

Does anyone know where I could get some basic, medium, and high quality settings for D3D's Render FF Script, for Poser 2014? Isn't the setup for that script slightly different than for Poser 2012? Someone showed me the usefulness of that script, and now I don't like to render without it. :)

Any help would be appreciated. Links, whatever...I'll take anything. I'm experimenting on my own, but I'd like to know what the recommended settings are.

Thank you!

hey guys.I have a scene with some props(decals) that are not meant to cast shadows, in poser7 I can just uncheck cast shadows and all is good. but in poser 2012 and 2014 unchecking this doesn't achieve the same thing,I'm still getting ambient occlusion being cast by the decals.

I can uncheck visible in raytracing but then these decals wont show in reflections

so does anyone know how to have a decal that casts no AO and shadows, yet still shows up in reflections?

I think Poser probably just needs an 'exclude from AO calculations' checkbox
or more specifically:

Send AO
Receive AO

because I'd still like the decals to receive AO,just don't want them to send it

attached image shows a poser2014 render v's a poser 7 render, the white paint lines on the road are the decals, the road has AO in the material

thanks

I got PP2014 as I thought the problem with the slow morphing tool was fixed. I reported this to SmithMicro last year and after many mails the supporter sent it to the devs. So I thought it would be fixed by now.

Everything worked fine until SM upgraded the python in PoserPro 2012. So I had a very fast Morphing tool in PoserPro 2012 SR2.0. Every versions since has been very slow for me. Maybe it's just me and my PC that are having these problems? Those I have asked says they don't have a problem with morphing slowdowns in PP2014. I simply don't understand this.

So I would like some help from you guys to confirm if there is a serious slowdown problem or if it's just me as this have been driving me crazy for months now.

Ok, here is the test: http://www.diguni.com/speedtest.zip
It has a OBJ file and a video. The video shows how fast I can do it in PP2012 SR2. If there's no slowdown I'm sure you can do it faster in PP2014 as I made a mistake in the video.

Import the OBJ file. It looks like an egg. Duplicate it so you have two. Set the morphing tool to the same settings as in the video. Then start pulling on egg number 1, then shift to egg number 2 and start pulling and then back to number 1 just like I do in the video, until you have 10 spikes or cones on both eggs.

Let me know what times you get.

Thanks.

I mean: Before I hit the button (like I usually do) I thought I should ask.

I found the script in the "Partners" section in the scripts menue and as I always have my runtime directly in Poser (Booooh! How old fashioned I am!) I thought that this script may do the tedious work for me and provide me from any problems with overwriting things that are native to the new version.

Did anyone test it so far?

I first want to say that It is not my intention to start a complaint thread. (Its counter-productive) I would like everyones help who sees this to compile a huge thread, more specifically an index of ALL reports on Errors,Bugs,Crashes and other issues related ONLY to PoserPro2014 and Poser10. This would also include Plug-Ins and Scripts that are going crazy and causing tremendous headaches and frustration. My goal is only to get these issues addressed so the vendors and the software engineers, programmers, etc can get get this resolved as quickly as possible. (ONCE AGAIN I DONT WANT THIS TURNING INTO A VIOLIN SECTION) So please lets work together as a community and lets get this software up and running so it can be at the top. here is an example of how we should structure the BUGZ INDEX

POSERPRO2014/POSER10 BUGZ:
SCRIPTS:>(NAME OF SCRIPT AND DESCRIPTION OF ERROR MESSAGE AND OR CRASHES)
POSERPRO2014/POSER10 RENDER ISSUES:
POSERPRO2014/POSER10 RENDER ISSUES W/ FIGURE BUGZ> (EXAMPLE V4 MORPH ERRORS WEIGHTMAP ERRORS

How do I customize the UI colors?
The Render progress bar is now a dark grey, I'd like to make it stand out more.
The Selected tools are highlighted in a egg yolk yellow. I'd rather pick a diff color.
Clearly these are minor annoyances, but I'd like to tune things to my own style.

The issue is, that the default Roxie-Faceroom Head doesn't match the default Roxie-Figure head. To know what I mean, open the Faceroom with Roxie selected and use the "spawn morph" command without altering anything. I expect to have a morph dial in the parameter pallette but without any change, after all I didn't applied any faceshape. BUT there IS a change. Roxie's head shape and Roxie's Faceroom headshape are completly different. ... not good :(
